If you've watched the news today, you've probably seen this footage of police beating up a 15 year old girl.

I think the police force might be attracting the wrong type of people by placing an ad in this video. People who think they can do bad things without consequence....hmmm

A plane crashed outside my window.

While I was at work today something terrible happened. A jet crashed into a house just a couple miles away. It's been all over the news. My office is actually closer than from where this photo was taken.

SAN DIEGO -- An FA-18 Hornet fighter jet crashed in a University City neighborhood near I-805 and Genessee shortly before noon Monday, destroying two homes in a blaze that sent a thick black plume of smoke into the sky. The pilot was able to eject from the aircraft before the crash and has been transported to a local hospital in "mild" condition.

Maurice Luque of the San Diego Fire Department has confirmed that there are two people who died in the crash in the 4400 block of Cathers.

OBAMA!

Shortly after it was announced, that Barack Obama was voted President Elect, I was driving home from the gym. I witnessed celebrations in the streets and it moved me to tears. People, random people, were honking their horns, people on the street cheering, clapping and pumping their fists into the air overcome by joy. It gave me goosebumps and made me cry with tears of happiness to see the HOPE and happiness on peoples faces. We need this. We need him.

Lehman bankruptcy: Lehman Brothers announced that it was filing for bankruptcy, ending a desperate three-day search for a buyer to save the investment bank. The filing came after Bank of America and Barclays pulled out of negotiations to acquire Lehman.

NEW YORK (Fortune) -- The last hours, minutes really, of one the world's largest investment banks make for a pretty unusual spectacle.

I'm standing outside Lehman Brothers (LEH, Fortune 500) headquarters on 7th Ave and 50th street in New York City, watching Lehman Brothers die.

Employees, some in suits, others in casual clothes, are filing out with all they can carry as time runs out.

They are walking down the sidewalk past police barricades as scores of New Yorkers and tourists gawk, some asking, "Which star is coming out?" - not knowing what's going on. A big cop issues the standard "keep moving" line to those of us who stop to gaze. He tells the crowd, "Go home. There is no one famous coming out. You are looking at a whole bunch of people who just lost their jobs."

Some of the people behind the barricades are loved ones - their faces distraught, their cars waiting to pick up their significant others and their boxes. One banker carries out a pair of green Lehman umbrellas, a paltry trophy.

Few parting employees are in a mood to talk - either they're still adhering to CEO Dick Fuld's tight-lipped, 'We're all in this together' policy or they're just exhausted and in major pain.
"No comment," is the standard line. A TV producer tries in vain to get interviews. I managed to ask one guy how he felt: "Look at all of us with boxes," he said with a grimace. "What do you think?"

As the night wears on, dozens of younger workers start coming out of the building. One yells, 'Jackals," not knowing that the crowd is made up mostly of relatives or clueless onlookers. A pair of employees walk out carrying orchids.

Six months earlier and five blocks away, a similar scene played out as Bear Stearns collapsed. Tonight I'm wondering how many more crash and burn nights like this Wall Street, the markets and our economy can take.

SEOUL (Reuters) - The loss of Booger the pit bull terrier was almost more than Bernann McKinney could bear.

Now she is happy, minus $50,000 and her house, and owner of five cloned Booger puppies.
"It is a miracle for me because I was able to smile again, laugh again and just feel alive again," McKinney told a news conference in the South Korea capital to show off the week-old black puppies -- all of whose names include the word Booger.

They are the work of the biotech firm RNL Bio, affiliated with the South Korean lab which produced the world's first cloned dog and is staffed with former associates of disgraced scientist Hwang Woo-suk.

She sold her house in the United States to raise the $50,000 for RNL scientists to turn skin cells taken from Booger before he died two years ago into embryos carried by two surrogate dogs for two months until giving birth to the puppies last week.

"I had to make sacrifices and I dream of the day, some day when everyone can afford to clone their pet because losing a pet is a terrible, terrible loss to anyone."

After rescuing him from a shelter 12 years ago, Booger had become an indispensable part of her life, said the 57-year-old Californian. The lab said it hoped to make its technology more commercial along with its program to clone sniffer dogs for the Korean customs service.

"As of today, we are at the stage of receiving orders from anywhere in the world," RNL CEO Ra Jeongchan said.

RNL has said it expected to clone about 100 dogs next year and for the price to drop as technology improves.

Hwang has been on trial for more than two years on charges of breaking the law on research ethics and for misusing state funds and private donations. RNL's research staff is made up of scientists who stayed behind when Hwang left the prestigious Seoul National University after his research results were found to be fraudulent.

Dogs are considered one of the more difficult mammals to clone because their reproductive cycle includes difficult-to-predict ovulations.

The economy is not doing so good. All Bennigan's and Steak & Ale locations are closing, like today. I have to admit, I've only been to Bennigans once and it wasn't very good. But having to file for bankruptcy and close all 800 restaurants...Yikes.

I just read The 100 Best Places to Raise a Family list, and GUESS WHAT?

SAN DIEGO is #5 which I'm very proud of and OCEANSIDE is #27! (27 is my favorite number) I was actually raised in Oceanside (it's in San Diego County, 40 miles north of downtown) and I can tell you from first hand experience it is one of the best places to be raised.

Out of The 10 Worst Places to Raise a Family, 3 of the cities are in Texas. (Corpus Christi, Waco and Beaumont) I happen to love Texas (most of it) so you have to give it a little credit....it is big enough to count for like 4 states.
