Henry Diltz

This weekend marks the the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock. Woodstock was held in Bethel, NY from August 15-17, 1969.

This morning on my drive to work, I listened to a short interview with Henry Diltz. Henry was the official on-stage photographer for the festival. Let his photos be your inspiration (to party woodstock style) this weekend.

Banksy

“New Yorkers don’t care about art, they care about pets. So I’m exhibiting them instead. I wanted to make art that questioned our relationship with animals and the ethics and sustainability of factory farming, but it ended up as chicken nuggets singing. I took all the money I made exploiting an animal in my last show and used it to fund a new show about the exploitation of animals. If its art and you can see it from the street, I guess it could still be considered street art."

Our friends Patrick and Sara are visiting from Austin this week. On Thursday we went to see Chromeo! It was so fun and such a good show. We sat in the balcony, front and center. We also ran into more of our friends.

Grand Ole Party

Last Saturday, Abe, Patrick and I went to the Casbah for the Kill Me Tomorrow and Grand Ole Party show.

Kill Me Tomorrow is Abe's favorite San Diego band, we have seen them countless times. I have only seen Grand Ole Party twice, but I LOVE them! I first saw them at the Beauty Bar on New Years Eve 2006. Then for the second time last weekend.

Grand Ole Party

Grand Ole Party is a trio from San Diego consisting of singer-drummer Kristin Gundred, guitarist John Paul Labno, and bassist Michael Krechnyak.

We bought the CD and Kristin signed it! Our friend, neighbor and fellow artist Kelsey Brooks illustrated the cover.

Los Angeles and Mr. Brainwash

Los Angeles
June 20-21

Last weekend Me, Abe and Stella took a spontaneous trip to LA to see "Life Is Beautiful," the art and installations of Mr. Brainwash aka MBW.

We drove up Friday night and stayed at the Hotel Palomar. Hotel Palomar is a Kimpton Hotel. They are famous for impeccable style and being pet friendly.

Saturday morning we enjoyed room service and then headed to the old CBS Studios on Sunset. The exhibit was pretty cool and they let us bring Stella in, but only after asking if she was an art lover...duh, of course she loves art. Abe bought a print and we headed back to San Diego.
