Trip Advisor

I'm a TripAdvisor junky. I love looking up destinations and reading the reviews about the hotels. TripAdvisor compiles all those reviews and makes helpful lists like this one. I'm shocked! The Day's Inn at the Cleveland Airport is dirty??? Who woulda thought...

Dirtiest Hotels - United States
(based on TripAdvisor traveler reviews)

1.Hotel Carter, New York City, New York
2.Continental Bayside Hotel, Miami Beach, Florida
3.New York Inn, New York City, New York
4.Eden Roc Motel, Wildwood, New Jersey
5.Days Inn Cleveland Airport, Brook Park, Ohio
A first hand report of the dirtiness! Mafra007 from Boston recalls the experience:
We arrived late and having driven for several hours, were just looking for a place to stay. Expectations were not high, yet this hotel managed to miss even those low hopes. the room had mold on the walls, and a multi-colored goo dripping from the AC vents. The windows were hardly transparent as they were streaked with hard water stains and the product of long term neglect. One was able to see through the glass just enough to observe a band of errant prostitutes, soliciting business on the front steps of the hotel from a group of equally degenerate drunkards. When the air conditioning failed to function in the heat of the summer, we were moved to a new room. This new room maintained all the qualities of the first, with a few additions. One of the beds was broken and propped up with a stack of Bibles. When my friend attempted to plug in a blow dryer, the outlet sparked and caused a minor fire. I left to get some ice, noting the shabbiness of the carpet when I came a matter of inches from stepping in a pile of canine excrement left in the middle of the hallway. We left at 3:00am and paid much more to stay at the Marriott for a few hours. Please, no matter your reasoning, avoid this hotel at all costs. Sleep in your car, or hop in a passing train with a knapsack just don't stay at this, or any other Days Inn!!!!
Oooh...more unsavory, yet hilarious comments:
~Stay Away!
~Worst hotel ever!
~The bathtub was not only chipped and stained, but it was gross.
~I am retired military and have been in places I felt unsafe before. I rested a chair against the door to repell anyone wanting to get in. I felt unsafe.
~I kept a sharp eye out for the chalk outline of a murder victim. I was genuinely suprised not to find one. (ha ha ha)
~the bedspread smelled like wet dog
~I asked for a cloth to clean the bathroom myself, PLEASE NOTE: I ASKED TO CLEAN THE BATHROOM MYSELF!
6.Days Inn Airport / Stadium Tampa, Tampa, Florida
7.Travelodge Bangor, Bangor, Maine
8.Velda Rose Resort Hotel, Hot Springs, Arkansas
9.Ramada Plaza Hotel JFK International Airport, Jamaica, New York
10.Days Inn & Suites Gatlinburg, Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Now I'm intrigued to read all the bad reviews from the Top 10 Dirtiest.

Truer words have never been spoken

The most precious possession that ever comes to a man in this world is a woman’s heart. ~Josiah G. Holland

Friday the 13th

Today is the first of 3 Friday the 13ths this year. The next comes in March, followed by Nov. 13. Such a triple whammy comes around only every 11 years.

Did ya know...

~The British Navy built a ship named Friday the 13th. On its maiden voyage, the vessel left dock on a Friday the 13th, and was never heard from again.

~The ill-fated Apollo 13 launched at 13:13 CST on Apr. 11, 1970. The sum of the date's digits (4-11-70) is 13 (as in 4+1+1+7+0 = 13). And the explosion that crippled the spacecraft occurred on April 13 (not a Friday). The crew did make it back to Earth safely, however.

~Many hospitals have no room 13, while some tall buildings skip the 13th floor.

~Butch Cassidy, notorious American train and bank robber, was born on Friday, April 13, 1866.

~Fidel Castro was born on Friday, Aug. 13, 1926.

~The seals on the back of a dollar bill include 13 steps on the pyramid, 13 stars above the eagle's head, 13 war arrows in the eagle's claw and 13 leaves on the olive branch. So far there's been no evidence tying these long-ago design decisions to the present economic situation.

Grammy Shwammy

Did you watch the Grammy's? Kinda lame...and awkward.

Radiohead had the best performance, the USC marching band was an execellent touch. My second favorite was Kanye and Estelle, short, sweet and flawless.

MIA was fun to watch too. I was just waiting for her water to break.
